RECEPTION:
You will be greeted at the spacious welcoming reception area when arriving at Kwando Camp. While checking in, spend a few moments visiting the curio shop which boasts an interesting range of local arts and crafts.

ISLAND TENTS
The island accommodates eight thatched tents, each one with two beds. Each bed is equipped with a mosquito net. Built on poles with a terrace overlooking the river, these bungalows will allow you to do some fishing from the deck.

The thatched roofs guarantee a good thermal regulation, ie: not too hot in summer and not too cold in winter. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom with a shower, toilet and washbasin with hot and cold water. These open sky bathrooms allow you to enjoy nature. Electricity is provided at key times by a generator. Lighting in the bathrooms is by paraffin lights.

TREE HOUSES
Three larger thatched bungalows are also available on higher ground. They are built on high poles and built of wood and canvas.

Conveniently placed among the trees, they allow for an incredible view of the Botswana plains.
Each bungalow has a large stylishly appointed bedroom, a large en-suite bathroom as well as an expansive terrace.

CAMP SITE
Situated between the main building and the island, this area is shaded by trees to provide relief from the heat during the hotter hours of the day. It allows for approximately ten camping sites on carefully maintained lawns. The facilities provide showers, toilets and washbasins as well as laundry facilities. Hot and cold water is available.

Kwando Camp in Namibia is without a doubt one of Temba favourite destination. In the Kwando Camp area are a few lodges which are all worth a visit. Lianshulu offers state of the art accommodation in the Maduma National Park and Mazambala Island Lodge offers luxury and affordable accommodation on an island in the Kwando River in the Caprivi National Park. If you drive west in the Caprivi from Kwando Camp you will get to Ngepi Camp which is a perfect family destination in Caprivi, Namibia along the Kavango River, within 2 hours drive. If you travel for 5 hours from Kwando Camp along the Caprivi Strip you will get to Kaisosi River Lodge near Rundu in the north of Namibia. Other lodges in the Rundu area which are within easy reach of Kwando Camp include Hakusembe River Lodge.

Some of Botswana best lodges are within a days drive from Kwando Camp in the Caprivi, Namibia. Near Shakawe on the western panhandle of the Okavango Delta lies Drotsky Cabins a fishing and birding paradise. To the east of Kwando Camp and only 2 hours drive is Chobe National park where you can stay in lodges such as SENYATI SAFARI LODGE a perfect destinations for families with self-catering accommodation. Toro Lodge offers affordable accommodation near Chobe in Botswana and is only 2 hours drive from Kwando Camp in Namibia.

Within 3 hours drive from Kwando Camp is the border of Zimbabwe a country of breathtaking beauty. VICTORIA FALLS ZIMBABWE offers a selection of excellent accommodation in and around Victoria Falls.

MAUN ACCOMMODATION will offer you the best accommodatiuon in and around Maun in Botswana such as the new Thamlakane River Lodge. Maun is about 8 hours drive from Kwando Camp and the gateway to the Okavango Delta. In Maun you can book your custom made Landcruiser 4x4 vehicle from Temba Car Hire. You can fly from Johannesburg to Maun and hire a 4x4 in order to visit the Caprivi and Kwando Camp in Namibia.

If you are prepared to spend the entire day on the road you can reach Etosha National Park in within a day from Kwando Camp. If you were happy with Kwando Camp you will most probably like Temba Etosha self catering Lodge just a short drive from Okaukuejo Rest Camp in Etosha National Park. Further south from Kwando Camp is DAMARALAND where you can book lodges such as Vingkerlip Lodge, Twyfelfontein, Ugab Terrace Lodge and Palmwag.

There are few place where fishing is better than at Swakopmund which is 2 days drive from Kwando Camp. From Swakopmund you can visit the high dunes of Sossusvlei. This is a vastly different area to the Caprivi. At Sossusvlei in the Namib Desert you will see some of the world highest sand dunes. You can stay in our luxury Sossusvlei Lodge or if you prefer self-catering, at Sossusvlei Desert Lodge at Sesriem, which is the entrance to Sossusvlei.

If you plan to visit Cape Town after your time at Kwando Camp in the Caprivi, you can overnight at Grunau Lodge between Keetmanshoop and Noordoewer in Namibia or at Grunau Country House bed and breakfast accommodaion in the old Grunau Hotel in Grunau in between Noordoewer and Keetmanshoop in Namibia. At Orange River Lodge you can stay in self-catering accommodation in Noordoewer near the South African border and two days drive from Kwando Camp in the Caprivi.

If you drive from Kwando Camp to South Africa, Upington accommodation online offers a selection of self-catering accommodation in Upington. Kang Ultra Lodge is the best accommodation along the Trans Kalahari Highway between Kwando Camp and Upington in Kang, Botswana. Perhaps you could also consider Ghanzi in Botswana as a stopover between Kwando Camp and Upington. In Ghanzi you will stay at either Kalahari Arms Hotel or at Thakadu Lodge.

Once in Upington Upington Country Lodge offers excellent self-catering accommodation in the CBD of Upington while Kalahari Monate Lodge offers equally good self-catering accommodation or camping 10 km from Upington in the Spitskop Nature Reserve. As Upington is about 16 hours drive from Kwando Camp, you may prefer more luxury as opposed to self-catering. If this is indeed so the Kalahari Sun River Lodge is a boutique hotel in Upington and will be your answer.

You can also decide to explore the eastern side of Botswana. Nata Lodge on the edge of the Makgadigadi Pans in Botswana is only 5 hours from Kwando Camp in the Caprivi, Namibia. Seven hours from Kwando Camp is Francistown, Botswana's second city. Here you can overnight at Woodlands self-catering and camping. Nine hours from Kwando Camp is Khama Rhino Sanctuary where you can stay in affordable self-catering accommodation in an eco-friendly nature reserve.

Gaborone is the capital city of Botswana and 11 hours drive from Kwando Camp. You can fly from Gaborone to Katima Mulilo and drive from there to Kwando Camp, In Gaborone you can stay in city hotels such as Cresta Lodge Gaborone or The Big Five Lodge or you can stay in Mokolodi Lodge Gaborone in the Mokolodi Game Reserve.
